I had this idea for a neat robot base that I would take an ordinary laptop and plug it into a wheeled base. I thought it so unique that I told my manager that I had a new idea for a patent. Maybe the company could sell it as an accessory to our computers! I saw the ER1 a couple months later. So much for THAT patent idea- http://www.evolution.com/product/consumer/ I still intend to make something similar, but my software will be on Linux. I feel Linux offers better hackability (as opposed to crackability, I am talking about the good kind of hacking), robustness, stability, and security. Especially the security! I mean, would you want someone to crack your IIS server and then drive your bot around your house on a virtual shopping spree or some more prurient purpose? EEEEeeek! Linux is all that and the price is right, too.
