This may be one for the hair brain schemes department but...in my efforts to build a robotic arm less than 2mm in diameter it would be helpfull to have a gearmotor out on the end for the twist but the smallest ones I can find are about 3.5 mm ,so I went up to Wal Mart and got me a $10 quartz watch just for the gears and realized it's actually a stepper gear motor that makes 1 step every second .If I can make a set of coils configured in the right arrangment then presto ...easer said than done but it's worth a try since I just made a new set of micro jaws and cutting tools for my lathe . http://www.robotgroup.net/brooks/microstepper.jpg Return to BrooksColeman
